We'll Miss You, Dear Friend

Just as many of us have had to come to terms with, my friend Scott Money died yesterday. I found out at about 2 am this morning, when I was woken up with the call. After letting another dear friend know, I slowly wound down and went back to sleep. Then my dreams were horrible. I don't remember details, just the sheer terror of death destroying all my friends.

When I woke up this morning, I was having severe migraines and minor nausea. I just realized that the two were probably connected.

But I realized something else today, that was just sort of sobering. The last picture that I took of G Money (our silly Bass Clarinet section gave each other names out of "brotherhood" -- Straight Outa Compton, Baby!) was actually of a picture of a picture of him. It was of his All-State picture from his senior year, and I photographed it my senior year. My point is that at that time, it wasn't necessary. There was no need for me to take that picture again. But now, thats the only way I would be able get new pictures of him at all.

But I also have to say that having my All-State picture on that wall in the Band Room is made infinitely more honoring by the fact that Scott is there too. And if it weren't for him, I truly doubt I would be.

I don't think I could ever play the bass clarinet again, even if I had the choice.

You were loved, Scott, and your spirit will always be loved.
